Searching for a lost Belgian Friend

Hello, my name is Judy McClelland. For several years I had a pen pal who lived in Oost-Vlanderen by the name of Rita De Vos. I have lost touch, and would like to reach her again. She is now married, and her husband's first name is Erik. If anyone is able to provide any information, or suggestions of other websites or other agencies to try, I would certainly appreciate any help in my search. Thank you so much for your message! Rita's return address was St. Lievenspoortstraat, 9000 Gent, Oost-Vlanderen, Belgium.

Unfortunately, I cannot remember her husband's surname. I am under the correct/incorrect understanding that the name De Vos is a very popular name in Belgium; somewhat like that of 'Smith' in Canada. I recall her saying that her husband was to serve a few years in the military in Belgium.

I would appreciate any advice or suggestions you might have concerning other areas you might know of that I can follow up on.

Hello again Judith,

It will be very hard to find her. The St-Lievenspoortstraat in Gent is in the middle of the student area of Gent. Most of the buildings there are student rooms, changing tenants every year. I'm going to Gent this evening, so I'll look if I can find her name on any of the doorbells. Again, it won't be easy to find her. I'll do the best I can.
